Radrick Farms Golf Course earned Platinum by enabling sleep mode on office equipment and shutting off all computers at the end of the work day. Waste reduction efforts included setting printers to duplex printing, cancelling unneeded catalog and periodical subscriptions, tracking paper use and setting a goal for reduction, and phasing out the provision of disposable kitchen items for staff. Additionally, educational material was shared with staff to increase awareness and communication around sustainability.
The Graham Environmental Sustainability Institute has all equipment set to energy saving settings, and has committed to turning off monitors when not in use and powering off unused work stations at the outlet. Completing a Print Smart analysis has given then institute more opportunities for reducing energy waste. Duplex printing, paperless staff meetings, and even consideration of options for composting kitchen scraps demonstrate their commitment to sustainable office practices.
The Children's Environmental Health Initiative earned their Platinum certification by building onto their existing commitments to having a sustainable workplace. Some of their newly adopted practices include powering down all equipment at the end of the work day and incorporating sustainability into regular staff communications and new staff orientation.
OSEH earned a Platinum certification by: removing unnecessary printers and setting the remaining two to default to double-sided printing, setting computers to energy saving settings and auto-shutdown at the end of varying work schedules, replacing equipment batteries with rechargeable ones, and discontinuing purchase of disposable kitchen items and instead providing reusable dishware and utensils to staff.
The Public Affairs office reached Platinum by shutting off all monitors and peripheral devices when not in use, using rechargeable batteries for microphones and other electronic devices, purchasing paper with recycled content and monitoring paper use with a goal for reduction, setting printers to double-sided printing and removing an unnecessary desktop printer. The staff also expanded their information sharing around sustainability topics and included a sustainability insert into new staff orientation materials.
This office has earned the highest rating available by: using energy saving settings on equipment, turning off lights and computers whenever possible, recycling all eligible materials, purchasing products with high recycled content, walking or busing to meetings, and encouraging other sustainable behaviors among staff.
Michigan Union Administration has attained the Gold level in the Sustainable Workplace Certification program. Over half of the staff are Planet Blue Ambassadors. The group has reduced the number of printers to a multi-function device and when printing is necessary duplex is used. Paper is at least 30% recycled content and all space heaters have been removed from the space.

Student Life: Office of Student Conflict Resolution obtained Gold level by completing Planet Blue Ambassador training and incorporating sustainability into new employee training, The department worked with the building Regional Energy Manager to develop a plan of action for regulating the thermostats in there area. The Planet Blue Operations Team helped by installing motion power strips for equipment.
The LSA Honors Program became a Gold Certified Sustainable Workplace by turning off lights and equipment when not in use, expanding recycling areas and systems, tracking paper usage with the goal to reduce waste, and incorporating communications and training related to sustainability into everyday staff practices as well as new staff orientation. Additionally, the office received a Print Smart evaluation to recommend ways to increase efficiency, reduce waste and streamline office equipment.
