The Energy Management team aims to reduce the amount of energy our campus buildings use in order to reduce costs and support the University’s sustainability goal to reduce greenhouse emissions.
Our professional staff takes a team-oriented approach to saving energy. Regional Energy Managers work in various areas of campus, strategically located to cover the 150 general fund buildings. Those buildings represent over 15.7 million square feet of research laboratories, classrooms, offices, recreational facilities, and performance spaces.
The Regional Energy Managers develop deep knowledge about their buildings and relationships with facility managers and building occupants, enabling them to identify energy conservation opportunities. Together, the efforts of the Energy Management team in general fund buildings have helped to offset the energy use associated with the unprecedented growth of campus in the last 15 years.
