Dow Sustainability Fellows 2016 Team

Nine students pursuing doctoral degrees in five schools and colleges across the University of Michigan have been selected to join the Dow Sustainability Fellows Program this fall.
This component of the Dow Sustainability Fellows Program creates a lifelong community of scholars devoted to developing and implementing innovative ideas in pursuit of sustainability and interested in becoming leaders in academia, business, government, and non-governmental organizations. Selected fellows receive $50,000 to support their research and studies during their 2-year fellowship, which begins this September.

- Leon Espira, Epidemiology, School of Public Health (SPH)

- Lauren Schmitt, Resource Ecology Management School of Natural Resources and Environment / “School for Environment & Sustainability” in July (SNRE/SEAS)
- Patrick Thomas, Resource Ecology Management, SNRE/SEAS
- Matthew Vedrin, Design Science, College of Engineering (COE)
- Donghui Xu, Civil Engineering, COE
New fellows will join nine returning fellows in the fall, and interact with Margaret Wooldridge, new Dow Sustainability Fellows Program Director, and Arthur F. Thurnau Professor, Departments of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, College of Engineering.
