The 43rd annual Earth Day this April is a reminder that we must protect our planet in order to preserve it for generations to come. This year, we are offering a variety of ways for you to get involved and renew your commitment to environmental stewardship.
On April 22, stop by the Earth Day Pledge Photo Booth in the University Hospital Cafeteria (northeast corner, near the Starbucks kiosk) from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. for your opportunity to make a pledge to practice environmentally beneficial behaviors. We’ll be taking photos of staff holding pledges of how they will support U-M’s 2025 campus sustainability goals in energy, food, waste, water and community.
The festivities will also include prizes and giveaways as well as information on recycling and environmental preservation. Whether you plan to recycle more, turn off non-essential lighting in your work area, or ride the bus one day a week, we want to hear your intentions to make a difference!
Check out some examples of Health System leaders who have already made their pledge.
If you can’t make it to the Earth Day celebration event, you can still participate and share your support by pledging electronically anytime from Monday, April 22 – Sunday, April 28. Fill out the pledge form following these instructions. Then, submit your completed form to GreenMail@umich.edu.
A slideshow of pledge participants will be posted to Health System Headlines, the internal homepage and the Environmental Stewardship website.
All Earth Day pledge participants will be entered into a prize drawing for 10 occupancy sensor power cords to be used in work areas. Ten lucky winners will also receive U-M Health System water bottles and five will win reusable tote bags. The first 300 onsite pledge participants will receive sustainable seed packets.
Our Hospitals and Health Centers continually strive to support our University’s 2025 Sustainability Goals through the practice of environmentally responsible behaviors, programs and resources. Make your pledge and show how you support these important goals. We hope to see you at Earth Day 2013!
