The Union of Concerned Scientists and Climate CoLab (at MIT) are soliciting ideas to measure, monitor, and reduce the climate impacts of expanded hydraulic fracturing for gas and oil. The hydraulic fracturing-focused competition is one of several CoLab contests that are encouraging people from all over the world to create proposals for what to do about climate change. Winners of the current round of Climate CoLab contests will be invited to present their proposals at a conference at MIT September 17-18, 2013. One winning proposal, from among all 2012-13 entries, will be awarded a grand prize of $10,000. Winners of the hydraulic fracturing competition will also participate in the Union of Concerns Scientists" Center for Science and Democracy forum on hydraulic fracturing in mid-July of 2013.
The deadline for submissions is May 31, 2013. Click here to learn more and/or to submit a proposal.
