New Modular Data Center on North Campus: A Model of Sustainable Computing

Faculty and staff recently toured the new eco-friendly Modular Data Center on North Campus. U-M is the first university in the nation to build a structure that uses outdoor air instead of expensive, industrial air conditioners to cool computing equipment. The center’s innovative design could potentially save $50,000 per month in energy costs.
