The U-M solar car team made a scheduled overnight stop in Ann Arbor during the American Solar Challenge on Monday, July 16.
Racing Quantum, its lightest vehicle ever, the U-M team was the first to arrive in their hometown, exercising a three hour lead ahead of the remaining competing teams. President Mary Sue Coleman also came out to greet the team and show her support.
The team is striving for its seventh first-place finish and fourth consecutive championship.
The 1,650-mile race from Rochester, N.Y., to St. Paul, Minn. ends Saturday.
