U-M Professor Don Scavia predicts the largest-ever "dead zone" in the Gulf of Mexico this summer due in large part to nitrogen and phosphorous runoff from the Mississippi River. The "Here & Now" Program on WBUR-Boston (NPR) recently interviewed Prof. Scavia about this environmental problem, which has been exacerbated due to recent flooding in the Mississippi Basin.
