The Office of Campus Sustainabilty will host a town hall on Nov. 6 to share an update on the university’s sustainability goals, with a focus on campus efforts to address climate change.

The event is open to all students, faculty and staff, and will occur from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Gallery Room at the Hatcher Graduate Library. The town hall will include a brief presentation on climate change and local impacts, followed by a Q-and-A session and an opportunity for attendees to network with others interested in sustainability. RSVP to the event here.

“We are using this event to reinforce how U-M’s sustainability effort is tied to climate change, and how these efforts translate into results,” said Andrew Berki, manager of the Office of Campus Sustainability. “By bringing together the campus community to hear experts speak on the topic of climate change, we hope to create a clear understanding of our challenges and identify potential further action.”

The town hall will focus on the local environmental, economic and social impacts of climate change. Presentations will explore how the university can address climate change and work toward a sustainable and resilient future for the campus.

Speakers include Dan Brown, a research associate with the Great Lakes Integrated Sciences and Assessments Center, and Beth Gibbons, project manager for the Great Lakes Adaptation Assessment for Cities.

After the presentations, there will be an opportunity for attendees to visit information booths for progress updates on the 2025 presidential sustainability goals, and to connect with one another to share ideas on other sustainability efforts.
