Attention Students!
As part of our overall efforts to integrate academic activity to campus operations at the University of Michigan—and to help advance the cause of environmental sustainability on our campus—the Graham Institute is embarking on Phase 2 of the Campus Sustainability Integrated Assessment (details at http://graham.umich.edu/ia/campus-ia.php). To help continue the project’s success, we are looking for U-M students to serve on the following Campus Sustainability IA Analysis Teams:
- Buildings (sustainable building practices and upgrades)
- Energy (renewable and alternative energy)
- Transportation (land use and transportation modes, parking fees)
- Land & Water (sustainable grounds maintenance, stormwater management, biodiversity)
- Food (local sourcing, composting, impacts of bottled water, food labeling)
- Purchasing and Recycling (materials reuse, sustainable purchasing policy, Life Cycle Assessment)
- Culture (metrics to assess sustainability awareness, pilot studies and surveys)
In Phase 2, the Analysis Teams will focus on five key sustainability theme areas: Climate; Human Health; Ecosystem Health; Materials Footprint; and Community Awareness. Research will focus on:
- How can the U-M approach the implementation of specific sustainability ideas?
- When is it reasonable for the U-M to implement ideas and achieve goals?
Students accepted to participate in the IA will be compensated for their involvement at the rate of $13/hour (undergraduate) and $17/hour (graduate). We expect students to work 10 hours/week through the Fall 2010 Semester.
Don't miss this opportunity to be involved in an unprecedented and important Campus Sustainability initiative at your university. If you have any questions, please contact the Integrated Assessment Team at: GrahamInstitute-IA@umich.edu
